The town
Hochstätten is situated in the holiday district of Rheingrafenstein, near Bad Münster am Stein-Ebenburg and Bad Kreuznach. It is increasingly known as an area where people can come for relaxation and convalescence. Our village lies on the small river Alsenz, in the middle of countryside characterised by woods and vineyards. Well-marked footpaths and cycle paths invite our guests to enjoy long walks or cycle tours in the clean air and unspoilt nature.
Locally organised wine festivals, midsummer night dances, children’s fêtes, theatre visits and the traditional “Martinimarkt” held on St. Martin’s day, promise you cheerful and sociable entertainment.
Just a few minutes drive from Hochstätten you can find interesting mediaeval castles, local history museums, Roman excavations, “Schmittenstollen” - the old quick-silver workings in the cave in Lemberg hill - sports facilities, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, tennis courts, golf courses, minigolf etc, magnificent views, for example: the towering Rheingrafenstein rock and the Rotenfels (Red Rock) mountain range, with the highest steep face north of the Alps.
Hochstätten can be reached by the motorway A61 from Ludwigshafen or Coblenz, as well as from Frankfurt/Main, by the exit Gau Bickelheim. From there, take the B420 towards Meisenheim. After about 20 Km you will be in Hochstätten.
